  19. The 33.6k ROM that's in the regular Sportster will not work in the
  20. Sportster Vi, but a 33.6k upgrade chip is now available for the
  21. Sportster Vi 28.8k from USR. The new Sportster Vi modems now available
  22. are 33.6k. Undoubtedly there are still some of the older 28.8k models
  23. on the shelves. The new 33.6k models that I've seen didn't say
  24. anything about the new speed on the box, but they did have "plug and
  25. play" stickers on them. The eighth digit of the serial number on the
  26. old 28.8k models is a zero (00028200xxxxxxxx), while the newer 33.6k
  27. models have a two as the eighth digit (00028202xxxxxxxx).
